SAINT PATRICK’S DAY SHADES
With Saint Patrick’s Day right around the corner, as well as the tenth birthday of Earth Hour only another week away, March is officially the month to think green! Fortunately for all us décor enthusiasts, green is already in vogue thanks to Pantone, who named a bright grassy green as Colour of the Year.
So it’s with all these exciting events in mind that we’ve rounded up inspiration from the archives that will have you green with envy. These are the perfect palettes to take you into the cool months; warm, cosy and reminiscent of nature – just what you need when it’s too cold to venture outside yourself.
Romancing the Stone
Make your interior sparkle with jewel greens like emerald, turquoise and on-trend teal. Saturate a wall with these scintillating shades for a contemporary feel, or bring out their luminosity with lustrous textures like a suede sofa, velvet bedhead or silky sateen sheets. Let teal walls take centre stage by furnishing with an understated neutral palette, dark timber and flecks of warm metallic.
The Dark Side
Brave the colour palette that’s set to be one of winter’s most daring trends. Not-quite-black is an unlikely yet effective colour choice for your walls, and can actually make a room feel bigger. Steer clear of true black – this can appear very foreboding and harsh – and look for a shade with inky green undertones. Bring out the subtle hue with green furnishings, pops of pattern and plenty of plant life to lighten the mood.
Colour outside the lines of traditional Scandinavian style by introducing a barely-there green to your neutral colour scheme. A pale shade like pistachio will team well with blonde timber, textured neutrals and the crisp, clean lines of Nordic style. Feeling colour shy? Introduce green to your Scandi theme in small doses such as splashes in your art, some earthy ceramic accents or a vase of fresh foliage.
