TAPPETI LAUNCHES NEW COLLECTION – GEO

Tappeti have pushed the envelope with their new collection – GEO, inspired by the architectural forms of the built environment. The GEO collection playfully explores exciting combinations of colour, shape, line and form, in part due to the exceptional design talent from Tappeti, and the meticulous handwork techniques they employ to craft their floor art.

Consistent with Tappeti‘s offering, a range of customisation options complement the GEO range. Endless design configurations are on offer due to the choice of a variety of rug pile heights, various shapes and sizes depending on application and Tappeti‘s vibrant selection of custom distinctive colours. This unrivalled degree of design flexibility also extends to finishes, which include fringe details, tapered edges and carved lines.

This standard of quality has been underscored by material integrity that is suitable for commercial wear and tear, and a keen eye watching out for the perfect balance of style and functionality. The Home interviewed Karinna Gobbo, Tappeti’s Founder and CEO about GEO which she says is a juxtaposition of the ancient traditions of handmaking rugs, with the powerful forms of the modern world.

What is the GEO collections about?

Marrying commercial grade quality and sought-after manufacturing techniques, with the best quality materials has resulted in a delightful celebration of individuality and sophistication. Each GEO piece uses hand-dyed New Zealand Wool with shimmers of art silk, and uses traditional handcraft techniques of carving, looping, raised pile and fringing. The GEO collection rugs are handmade in India based on designs refined in our studios in Australia and Singapore and are built to withstand commercial environments or become an heirloom in residential spaces. When interiors are full of mass production and ‘seen-it-all-before’ designs, GEO stands out as a breath of fresh air offering the highest level of quality, adding complexity and depth to all environments.

How important is it to have a rug which is unique to transform an area?

Adding a custom rug to any space can completely alter the mood, look and feel of any space. For example, size; designing the rug for all the furniture to sit on the rug creates a much larger, more open space. If you are wanting to add colour to a mono chrome space this can be done subtly in your rug design. The environments in which we live and work are a reflection of who we are and how we live. Having something custom designed is a way of expressing ourselves and communicating the important elements of our lives.

What inspired GEO?

GEO, inspired by the architectural forms of the built environment. I’m struck by the modern forms and shapes around us and how they make us feel and inhibit our spaces. This range takes it cue from the worlds we know and provides warmth and depth to our interiors.

What blows you away the most with what you do?

Our design capabilities are limitless.  We are not restricted with size, shape or colour unlike traditional carpets. At Tappeti, any of our rugs can be handmade using specific colours, shapes and materials to create the exact finish desired. It is a huge undertaking to make this possible for our clients but is key to quality design.
