BACHELOR PAD MAKEOVER
You may remember Haydn and his not-so-glamorous space from our nationwide Search for Australia’s Tackiest Bachelor Pad completion earlier in the year. And now we’re excited to share the much anticipated makeover.
‘You don’t need a big budget to make a big transformation,’ says Emma Blomfield, interior stylist for The Home. Emma worked with a contemporary coastal look for an inviting finish for both Haydn and potential love interests.
‘The pad wasn’t an enjoyable space for girls to hang out before, but now I am so much more confident to date and bring girls home,’ says Haydn.
The 26 year old carpenter from Collaroy received a fresh coat of paint from Taubmans, a proper clean, and plant fit out courtesy of Airtasker, and furniture and home decor worth $3,000 from The Home.
‘Now that Haydn has a fabulous home, his chances of success in the love stakes have positively improved,’ says Emma.
EMMA’S BUDGET TIPS FOR UPDATING YOUR BACHELOR/ETTE PAD
Add life to your pad with a faux plant or two, you can’t kill a plastic plant no matter how much you ignore it!
If you’re not a whizz with power tools, hang paper art prints with washi tape. It’s a cheaper and easier alternative to framing art.
A floor lamp adds a warm and inviting glow to your room, which means you can keep the ceiling lights off for romantic mood lighting.
Scatter cushions are an easy way to add colour and pattern to your lounge room – you only need two to create impact, even if they’re flicked off as soon as you sit.
Simply changing your doona cover set to something fresher will instantly lift the mood in your bedroom.
