What Pierre Jeanneret could mean for a home?

When both comfort and style come together – you get Pierre Jeanneret. Pierre Jeanneret was a swiss architect who was appointed to design the furniture of the committee room of the Indian city of Chandigarh.  He used local wood which was mostly Teak and hired local craftsmen within the city which gave these pieces their own unique character. His creation was one of its kind and paved the way for his own and never-seen-before style and taste. Now 70 years on, these designs are being carefully, and meticulously re crafted using the original designs, by skilled artisans from Chandigarh by the team at Phantom Hands. If you are lover of the classics and feel at home full of timeless furniture – Pierre Jeanneret is your calling. Each piece is completely handmade.  Nuances such as finger joints, inclination of the seat, bowed backrest, gentle rounding of edges along the length of the arms & legs – are given due attention.

What is the vibe of Pierre Jeanneret?

The vibe is timelessness…Timber is the main material for the furniture and all the pieces have been crafted primarily from Burma Teak – both reclaimed timber and new timber. The reclaimed timber is sourced from rafters of old buildings that are demolished and usually over 100 years old. These rafters are then cut into planks and planed to the required dimensions in our workshop. The new timber used in each of these pieces is purchased in the form of logs from reputed and responsible timber merchants who source ethically harvested timber. The cane used in these pieces is obtained by peeling flat strips from the outer edges of rattan reeds. The rustic elements of the originals have been preserved; the cane has been left to its natural state, un-coloured and un-polished and the cane-work knots at the back of chairs are left exposed.

Why you don’t need anything else…

The collection looks the best when styled in a minimalist fashion. Given the vibe is classic, Pierre Jeanneret will make your space stand out, always look different and beautiful. Just a set of timber chairs in an outdoor area can either work for Sunday brunches, evening reading sessions or even sunbathing! Who said minimalistic is not practical?
