2. Avoid placing the foot of the bed in direct alignment with the door. After a recent visit to China where I was conducting a Feng Shui Tour, I learnt that in the old days when the Emperor passed away he was carried out of the Forbidden City feet first. This is why we don’t like to have the feet directly facing the door in Feng Shui.
3. Avoid sleeping with your head directly under a window. If we approach Feng Shui from a practical point of view, sleeping up against a window makes it easier to hear any external noise, have the cold air chill your head, and the early morning sun awaken you too early.
4. Keep red colours in the bedroom to a minimum. Red is an active, yang colour, and the bedroom is a yin, quiet area, so cool or hushed shades are preferred. In addition, red represents the element of fire, which in some cases can increase stomach-related illness. If you are not feeling well and you cannot move the bed, paint the wall behind the head of the bed a golden colour or use golden wallpaper. This metal element is a very powerful protector of health.
5. Avoid mirrors at the foot of the bed or either side of the bed. Mirrors bring yang qi into a room. Yang qi is appropriate for an active room, but not for the bedroom, therefore mirrors can disrupt sleep.
